Game Production II Blog Post 2

Looking back on the prototyping and presentations we’ve given so far, I really think that either our first week or this upcoming week have been the best so far.  I think that we had a lot of really good ideas our first week.  Our first idea would have been really good, even if it was a bit scope-y, and the rest were much better received by the class than I expected.  People also liked the prototypes, which I had made out of Legos.  I absolutely love using Legos for physical prototypes, since you can pretty much make whatever you need out of them.  We all did a lot of work to get the presentation ready, and the work was distributed pretty evenly.

This last sprint has been going great as well.  Our prototype is digital now, and it’s going fantastically.  I’m amazed at how much our programmer has been able to do in such a short time.  Feedback and features that we’ve wanted has been implemented so incredibly quickly that I’m kind of in shock.  Our team has been taking the feedback we got last week really well, and all of the suggestions have already been implemented.  Art has been going pretty good as well.  We have some really nice assets done, including a logo for the game.  This week I made a game trailer in Premiere Pro in about three hours, and I just thought it was OK, but all of my teammates said that they really liked it and that it was exactly what they wanted, so that was cool.  I guess I did a better job on it than I thought.  I’ve done a bit of designing, as well.  I worked on some options for how to implement units, and I think they came out pretty well.  We decided on one of the options, so now we’re going with that for now.  The only thing that hasn’t gone perfectly well has been attendance/punctuality.  We had a couple of people cancel on our last meeting at the last minute, and some of our members have been consistently late or forget about meetings.  It’s definitely something that our group needs to work on, or at least give a heads-up earlier if it’s going to happen.

And that’s how I’m going to end this one.  I’m looking forwards to the greenlight process this week, and I’m pretty hopeful that we’ll make it through.  Let’s see what happens, and if I’ll get to see this game through to the end.
